Paddle Buddies of Lois and John Crawford County
South Branch of the Au Sable River CleanupLois and John Goldstein
paddle about 90 days a year, mostly on rivers within an hour's drive
of their house in Acme. They often get groups together to do
river cleanups, frequently removing numerous bags filled with beer
cans, flip flops and assorted other junk from our waterways. They've
made a big difference in the local rivers in the past few years.
On September 15, 2007, they got a group together to clean the
South Branch of the Au Sable River, with assistance from Tom
Roberts, the owner of Paddle Brave Campground and Canoe Rental.
The river was surprisingly clean (the year before their cleanup
yielded about 8 large bags of trash), and they think it was due to
the previous week's effort by the Anglers of the AuSable.
